The City of Abbotsford hired Greystone Design Construction to install a bridge in Willband Creek Park. The bridge was previously washed out from the floods back in 2021 and needed to be replaced. This a popular spot for the locals and it had been over 2 years since the bridge was removed from the park.
In early May, the GDM Construction team began the process of prepping the area. They started by clearing the overgrown greenery that had taken over since the bridge’s removal, ensuring a clean and stable site for construction. Wooden beams were then carefully positioned to provide sturdy support on either side of the creek’s gap.
With the site fully prepared, a crane was brought in to lift and position the new bridge framework into place. This precise operation required expert coordination and attention to detail, as the framework needed to be securely anchored. Once the framework was set, the team diligently drilled it into place, ensuring it would withstand future challenges.
The final phase of the project involved the installation of the decking and rails. The team applied the decking, creating a smooth and safe surface for pedestrians. Rails were then added to ensure the safety of all park visitors.
The successful completion of this project marks a significant milestone for the community, reconnecting a cherished part of Willband Creek Park. Locals can once again enjoy seamless strolls and scenic views, thanks to the efforts of GDM Construction. This new bridge not only symbolizes resilience but also the commitment to preserving and enhancing community spaces for everyone to enjoy.
