Founded in 2010 by the Loates family, with a single excavator and a focus on slope stabilization, the company has grown over the years in both size and scope. Now a large Civil Construction Enterprise that includes our unionized division, GDM Civil, we have over 40 pieces of heavy equipment and we continue to diversify our fleet of machinery and area of work to meet the ever-changing needs of the Civil Construction Industry. Greystone Design Management (GDM) was started in Abbotsford, British Columbia in 2010 by the Loates Family.
GDM’s head office remains in Abbotsford, but GDM has now grown into one of the Fraser Valley’s most innovative Civil Construction firms. GDM has over 40 pieces of heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, rock trucks and drilling equipment. GDM’s range of expertise now includes Retaining Wall Construction, Earthworks, Slope Stabilization/ Landslide Repair Maintenance / Utilities and Site Preparation. No project is too complex for the talented team at GDM, and we pride ourselves on solving complex problems safely while bringing value to every project we complete.
All projects performed by the GDM Construction Team are done so with safety being held in the highest regard. GDM puts an emphasis on the consideration for employee and public safety. We are bonded, covered by Worksafe BC are CORE Certified and members of the Better Business Bureau.
GDM’s high level of safety has allowed our companies (GDM & GDM Civil) to work on projects that have some of the Lower Mainland’s strictest Health and Safety Protocols and Environmental guidelines.

Working closely with local Municipalities and Environmental Consultants, GDM have completed projects related to slope stabilization, landslide repairs and creek restoration in environmentally sensitive areas.
